The increasing number of youths in Jammu and Kashmir who are taking up sports is indeed heartening.
The fact that they are going to play their part in making the country a global sports destination is even more so.
For ages, the youth of Jammu and Kashmir had least sporting avenues. They are today taking to sports, be it cricket or football, be it athletics, martial arts or winter sports, with a renewed vigor and zeal.
They will not only win medals for the country but will also give Jammu and Kashmir a befitting position on the global sports map.
The government rightly recognized this trend as a positive one.
It is true that sporting events do provide an outlet for the youthful energies of the people.
Sports do generate a spirit of adventure along with discipline, team spirit and a feeling of healthy competition.
Sports can also take the place of anti-social activities.
It is heartening to note that the government is taking all steps to nurture this budding talent by providing improved infrastructure, conducting training camps, holding talent hunt events and taking the players to mainstream sporting events.
The young sports persons from Jammu and Kashmir are today inspiring a large number of people.
They have proved to themselves and the world that J&K can produce world class athletes.
It only needs to build upon this talent and provide the required platform and mentoring for them to meet the national and international competitions.
The sporting events in turn will generate a lot of positive vibes and will create a feeling of oneness and togetherness and act as a unifying force and also provide an alternate outlet for the youth.
A lot still needs to be done to take this initiative to greater heights. But all the signs are very positive and we are definitely looking forward to a bright future full of sporting achievements for Jammu and Kashmir.
