Speaker forms BAC, all-party meet next week

Srinagar, Sep 12: Ahead of the upcoming autumn session of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather has constituted the Business Advisory Committee (BAC).

According to a notification, the committee comprises legislators from different political parties and has been constituted under Rule 317 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Legislative Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir.

The BAC includes Leader of Opposition Sunil Kumar Sharma (BJP), Ali Muhammad Sagar (NC), Mubarak Gul (NC), Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami (CPI‑M), Ghulam Ahmad Mir (Congress), Sajad Gani Lone (PC), and Choudhary Muhammad Akram (Independent).

The Business Advisory Committee is entrusted with recommending the allocation of time for discussion on Government Bills and other business referred to it by the Speaker. As per the Rules, the BAC may also frame a timetable indicating the hours by which different stages of such business shall be completed, along with any other functions assigned by the Speaker.

Sources disclosed that the Speaker is likely to convene an all‑party meeting next week to ensure the smooth functioning of the 10‑daylong session, starting on September 21.

Representatives of different parties will be invited for the meeting, they added. (KNO)
