Traffic restrictions on Gupkar today

SRINAGAR: Traffic restrictions will be imposed on key roads in Srinagar on Monday evening as the International Film Festival begins at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), Traffic Police said.

SSP Traffic Srinagar City Aijaz Ahmad Bhat said a large number of participants, guests and invitees are expected to attend the inauguration scheduled for September 7 evening, prompting restrictions to manage the anticipated rush of vehicles towards SKICC.

As per the traffic advisory, no general traffic will be allowed on Gupkar Road from 4 pm to 7 pm on September 7. The road will remain open only to invitees, participants, VVIPs and staff associated with the event.

Traffic will also be restricted at Badyari Chowk and Brein Chowk towards SKICC-Nehru Park. Hotel guests and local residents will be permitted access, while other traffic heading towards Nishat will be diverted through Gupkar and Hazratbal.

Traffic approaching from the Nishat and Harwan sides will also be diverted towards Hazratbal.

The restrictions will remain in force from 4 pm to 7 pm, or until the inauguration function concludes.

The four-day film festival will continue until September 10. Traffic Police said a similar advisory will be issued for the closing ceremony on September 10 evening.
