New Delhi, Aug 29: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan Saturday called on India’s youth to move beyond basic education and focus on research, innovation and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, semiconductors and quantum technology.
Addressing the Founders’ Day Celebrations and inauguration of ‘Arivukoodam’ of the Kongu Vellalar Institute of Technology (KVIT) Trust at Perundurai in Erode, Radhakrishnan said educational institutions must evolve into global centres of knowledge, research and innovation.
He urged young people to continuously upgrade their knowledge and develop the skills needed to meet the demands of rapidly evolving technologies.
“Change is the only constant,” the Vice President said, urging youth to recognise their strengths, set clear goals and persevere without comparing themselves with others.
He called upon students to engage in research, innovation and patent creation, particularly in emerging areas including AI, robotics, semiconductors, quantum technology, biotechnology and digital technology.
Radhakrishnan also stressed the importance of strong industry-academia collaboration, saying research and innovation, backed by partnerships between educational institutions and industry, were essential for India’s continued progress.
He expressed confidence that ‘Arivukoodam’ would develop into a hub for research, innovation and knowledge creation and help strengthen the institutions as global knowledge centres contributing to social transformation and national development.
The Vice President appreciated the vision of the 41 founders of the KVIT Trust and noted that nearly one lakh people had received education through its institutions.
He also commended the trust for establishing global linkages with countries including Germany, the United States, France and Japan, saying these connections would further strengthen its academic and research ecosystem.
During the programme, Radhakrishnan visited an exhibition organised by the Technology Business Incubator of Kongu Engineering College, which showcased innovative projects and technological solutions.
In his presence, MoUs were exchanged between Anchor Industries and Arivukoodam–A Research Park to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and promote research and innovation.
The Vice President also felicitated distinguished individuals associated with the college and the trust and unveiled plaques commemorating the foundation stone laying of Arivukoodam–A Research Park, Pharmacy College, Kongu Naturopathy and Yoga Medical College, and the Cloud Kitchen of KVIT Trust.
He also highlighted the role of yoga and meditation in maintaining mental peace and sharpening intellect and quoted Swami Vivekananda: “You become what you think.”
Tamil Nadu and Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Supreme Court Judge Justice M. M. Sundresh, KVIT Trust Chairman Devarajan and other dignitaries attended the programme.
