Srinagar, Aug 22: Two people, including a 65-year-old woman, were injured in separate wild bear attacks in Anantnag and Bandipora districts on Saturday, officials said.
In Anantnag, a 65-year-old woman was injured after being attacked by a wild bear in Darpora Khundoora village of Achabal.
An official said the woman, identified as Mubeena Banoo, wife of late Mohammad Maqbool Mantoo and a resident of Darpora, was shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for treatment.
In Bandipora, a 50-year-old man was injured in a bear attack in the Chaliwan Chittaybandy area.
Following the incident, Wildlife Department officials reached the spot and installed a cage to trap the animal, an official said.
Efforts are underway to trace and capture the bear, while investigations into both incidents have been initiated, officials said.
