New Delhi, Aug 15: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation on the 80th Independence Day laid out a comprehensive roadmap for building a Viksit Bharat, anchored in the vision of a “Drug-Free India”, a “Safe India” and the principle of “Nation First”.
In a post on X, Shah said the Prime Minister highlighted the country’s unprecedented progress over the past 12 years in sectors such as semiconductors, critical minerals, energy and railway transport, while presenting the mantra of Saptadhara—seven pillars of strength—to drive India towards self-reliance and global leadership.
He said the address reflected a strong commitment to Swadeshi, prosperity and self-reliance, and would serve as a milestone in India’s journey towards becoming a leading nation across sectors.
Highlighting measures aimed at harnessing the potential of the youth, Shah noted that Modi announced initiatives to provide artificial intelligence (AI) skills training to more than one crore young people within a year, establish a network for free online coaching and launch a talent hunt programme for the 2036 Olympic Games.
The Home Minister also referred to the Prime Minister’s long-term development goals, including achieving 100 gigawatts of nuclear power capacity and establishing eight new semiconductor units by 2047.
“Imbued with the resolve for Swadeshi, prosperity and self-reliance, this address by Modi Ji will prove to be a milestone in the journey towards becoming a leading nation across all sectors,” Shah said.
In a separate post, Shah described as a “historic moment” the singing of Vande Mataram from the ramparts of the Red Fort during the Independence Day celebrations, claiming it was rendered there for the first time since Independence.
“Witnessing this historic moment not only gave me goosebumps but filled my entire being with sheer ecstasy,” he said.
