Stresses unity and peace for progress
Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said Jammu and Kashmir has firmly embarked on a path of rapid socio-economic growth, with several mega development projects nearing completion and key infrastructure initiatives progressing at a fast pace across the Union Territory.
In his message on the eve of the 80th Independence Day, the Lieutenant Governor said the recent years have witnessed remarkable progress in Jammu and Kashmir, expressing confidence that the Union Territory would achieve new milestones of prosperity in the near future.
“Jammu Kashmir has firmly set out on a path of rapid socio-economic growth, witnessing remarkable progress over the past few years. The Union Territory has received a powerful developmental boost, with numerous mega projects nearing completion,” he said.
Sinha said work on major infrastructure projects was advancing swiftly to ensure that the benefits of development reach every part of the region.
Extending greetings to the people on Independence Day, the Lieutenant Governor paid tribute to the leaders, freedom fighters and martyrs of India’s freedom struggle.
He also expressed gratitude to the Armed Forces, paramilitary forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies for safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and integrity, while remembering those who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
The Lieutenant Governor congratulated farmers, workers, traders, scientists, teachers, innovators, artisans, civil society groups, women and youth for their contribution to the development of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the diversity of the country remained a source of strength and stressed the need to protect national unity and integrity.
Describing unity as the core message of Independence Day, Sinha urged citizens to renew their commitment towards building a strong, self-reliant and developed Jammu and Kashmir.
He called upon people to join hands in preserving peace and prosperity and said the day was not far when Jammu and Kashmir would emerge as one of the leading developed regions of the country.
According to the Lieutenant Governor, the Union Territory’s progress would make a significant contribution to the national goal of building a developed India.
Concluding his message, Sinha extended Independence Day greetings to the people and called for collective efforts to secure a brighter future for Jammu and Kashmir.
