The figures announced in the Lok Sabha today about 43,907 completed houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) and 42,584 sanctioned houses under the PMAY-U 2.0 bear testimony to the fact that the Government of India remains unwavering in its resolve to improve the quality of life of the people of J&K.
It is indeed heartening to know that the dream of owning a pucca house of the people of Jammu and Kashmir is becoming a reality.
These houses constructed under the scheme, apart from providing the citizens with a sense of belongingness and security, also provide them with the much-needed respite against the bitter winter winds.
The Government of India can only be commended for the expeditious execution of such a mammoth task.
The authorities have been able to overcome the numerous challenges pertaining to the terrain of the UT in order to ensure that the benefits of the centrally-sponsored scheme reach the deserving citizens of the state.
Announcing the sanctioning of 42,584 houses under the PMAY-U 2.0, the Centre demonstrated its resolve to ensure that the dream of housing the poor and the deprived is realized.
The Government of India can be termed as highly progressive as it recognizes the need for providing security to the vulnerable sections of the society.
By introducing schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the government is not only providing the common people with ownership of property but also enabling them to improve their economic position as they would be able to avail loans at subsidized rates.
With these kinds of welfare schemes being introduced by the Government of India, womenfolk may be said to gain more strength and stature in society. By granting them ownership of property, their status and position in the society has been elevated manifold.
As the UT of Jammu and Kashmir enters into an era of prosperity with the help of the numerous developmental schemes being launched by the Government of India, it is indeed heartening to see the positive impact that these initiatives are having on the ground. By launching welfare schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the Government of India has demonstrated its commitment towards the development of the UT of J&K and in turn, the country at large. The GoI, with its citizen-centric policies, can indeed be termed as ‘a friend to the poor’.
