The latest developments from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways signal a major breakthrough for Jammu and Kashmir.

This groundbreaking initiative will bring unprecedented transformation to the region’s infrastructure and streamline connectivity.
The projects will reduce travel times significantly for the local population, businesses, and those traveling through the exotic yet hard landscapes of Jammu and Kashmir.
The connectivity will ensure that all-weather access will not only remain a dream but a reality, thus strengthening the economy and giving a major boost to the tourism sector.

construction of tunnels, and upgrading of the main stretches of the highway are to enhance local mobility.
Advanced technology for monitoring like AI-drone tracking and geo-tagged dashboards will help in achieving maximum transparency and efficiency during the implementation of abovementioned construction works.
Though some logistical problems may arise during the execution of the projects, the willingness of the state authorities to overcome these difficulties proves that there is a dedicated to provide us every possible facility.
There are reports of delays in NH projects that have been mainly due to land acquisition problems, statutory and forest clearances, utility relocation, removal of encroachment, law and order situation, scarcity of construction materials, lack of performance by contractors, and force majeure occurrences.
Nevertheless, in the last three financial years, an impressive feat has been accomplished with the sanction of highway projects comprising 179 km valued at Rs 2774 crore in 2023-24, as well as 29 km worth Rs 1262 crore in 2024-25 and 16 km worth Rs 370 crore in 2025-26 in Jammu and Kashmir.
By eliminating the challenges posed by geography, these highways are paving the path toward a well-connected and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
