Orders intensified rescue operations
Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Wednesday reviewed the situation in districts affected by heavy rains, flash floods and landslides across Jammu and Kashmir, directing authorities to intensify rescue operations and ensure swift restoration of essential services.
The Lieutenant Governor spoke to senior officials and assessed the ground situation, reviewing relief and rescue efforts being carried out by district administrations, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), J&K Police, the Indian Army, Border Roads Organisation (BRO), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and other line departments.
In a post on X, Sinha said joint rescue operations were continuing in Poonch and Rajouri, while more than 400 damaged roads in the Jammu Division had already been restored.
He directed officials to position manpower and machinery at strategic locations near vulnerable areas to enable an immediate response in case of emergencies and instructed authorities to issue timely public advisories discouraging unnecessary travel in high-risk zones.
The Lieutenant Governor also spoke to the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban regarding the shooting stones incident that claimed two lives.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved families, Sinha directed the district administration to ensure the injured receive the best possible medical treatment and extend all necessary assistance to the affected families.
