MP Mian Altaf escapes unhurt after landslide hits vehicle on Jammu-Poonch highway

Jammu: Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad on Wednesday escaped unhurt after a landslide hit his official vehicle while he was inspecting rain and landslide-affected areas along the Jammu-Poonch National Highway, officials said.

Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that rocks and debris suddenly rolled down from a hill and struck the MP’s vehicle during the inspection.

However, Mian Altaf and those accompanying him escaped without injuries.

The incident led to the temporary closure of the Jammu-Poonch National Highway, with authorities immediately launching clearance operations to remove the debris and restore traffic.

Officials have urged commuters to avoid unnecessary travel on the highway and adhere to traffic advisories until the road is declared safe for vehicular movement—(KNO)
