Banihal: One person was killed and five others sustained injuries after an Alto car met with an accident at Aramdaka in Mangit area of Tehsil Khari along the Banihal–Mangit Road on Sunday.
The vehicle was reportedly travelling from Mangit towards Banihal when the driver lost control, resulting in the accident.
The deceased has been identified as Ghulam Mohammad Lone, son of Ali Mohammad Lone, aged about 50 years.
The injured have been identified as Mohammad Ishaq, son of Abdul Rehman Khanday (28); Mohammad Rafiq, son of Abdul Rashid (31); Nawaz Ahmad, son of Abdul Ahad (33); Zaba Begum, wife of Abdul Ahad (45); and Hamad, son of Nawaz Ahmad (9).
Soon after the accident, local residents and rescue personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a hospital for medical treatment.
The condition of the injured was not immediately known.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident, while further details are awaited. [KNT]
