Reasi, July 15: The district administration Reasi has issued a public advisory cautioning residents about possible fluctuations in the water level of the Chenab River between July 16 and July 26 owing to scheduled silt flushing operations at the Salal and Baglihar Hydroelectric Projects.
According to the advisory, the controlled release of water during the flushing operations could lead to a sudden rise or fluctuation in the river’s water level downstream, prompting authorities to urge people to exercise caution.
The administration has advised residents living along the banks of the Chenab, as well as visitors, fishermen and livestock owners, to avoid venturing close to the river during the notified period.
People have also been urged not to attempt crossing the river or engage in any activity in vulnerable stretches where water levels may change without prior warning.
The advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure to prevent accidents and ensure public safety during the maintenance operations at the two hydroelectric projects.
The district administration has appealed to the public to remain vigilant, follow official advisories and cooperate with the authorities until the completion of the silt flushing exercise. [KNT]
