Sonamarg’s transformation into a lively, year-round spot has become possible thanks to modern engineering. The newly-built Z-Morh tunnel has made it possible for travelers to visit this beautiful location.
Tourists arrived in Sonamarg 3.92 lakh times, including 8000 arrivals of foreign tourists, since January. Such a process has led to large growth of the regional economy.
Foreign tourist arrivals have increased by about 35 to 40 percent.
Since the opening of the tunnel, Sonamarg has been available throughout the whole year.
Sonamarg has also become an important point in the journey to Ladakh—foreigners going to or coming back from the Union Territory spend at least one night in this destination.
Certain infrastructure developments are being planned in order to provide more facilities for tourists.
The works on the decorative fence are being conducted, as well as the construction of Children’s Park, where the activities will be finished soon.
The boost in tourism across Jammu and Kashmir is a hard work of the all the concerned stakeholders including the local tourism players and the government who are working jointly to strengthen the sector.
The arrival of thousands of abroad visitors in Jammu and Kashmir and eight thousand in only Sonamarg is a proof that our one of our backbone is developing and putting a positive impression across the globe.
Although the number of developmental projects have gave a boost to many tourist destinations, but there is a need to put some extra efforts towards the under-developed destinations and those that have been recently explored as new tourist destinations. They needs upgradation with connectivity and infrastructure.
As we celebrate the influx of local and foreign visitors, this is not the final achievement, there is a need to further boost the industry so that it will ensure that the benefits of it reaching out to the grassroots.
