150 kg of seized narcotics destroyed

Srinagar, July 09: Reinforcing its unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and substance abuse under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Police in Pulwama destroyed a substantial quantity of seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances at the authorized disposal facility of M/S Kashmir Health Care System, Common Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Facility, IGC Lassipora, Pulwama.

The destruction was carried out by the District Level Drug Disposal Committee, Pulwama under the provisions of Section 52A of the NDPS Act, after completion of all prescribed legal formalities and in strict compliance with the orders of the competent court. The entire disposal process was conducted in a secure and transparent manner, ensuring adherence to the prescribed legal procedures.

The contraband destroyed included 106.375 kilograms of Ganja, 44.87 kilograms of Poppy Straw, 163 grams of Charas, 772 grams of Heroin, 97 bottles of Codeine, and 271 psychotropic tablets, all of which had been seized in various NDPS cases registered across the district.

The destruction of seized narcotics reflects Pulwama Police’s sustained efforts to eliminate the drug menace by ensuring that seized contraband is disposed of strictly in accordance with the law, thereby preventing its misuse and reinforcing public confidence in the criminal justice system.

J&K Police remains steadfast in its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse and will continue to take firm legal action against those involved in narcotics-related activities. The public is urged to extend their cooperation by sharing credible information regarding drug peddling and abuse so that, together, a drug-free society can be achieved.
