DGP orders heightened vigilance

PAHALGAM, July 2: Nalin Prabhat Thursday reviewed security and pilgrim facilitation arrangements at the Nunwan Base Camp and frisking point in Pahalgam, directing officers to maintain round-the-clock vigilance, strengthen inter-agency coordination and ensure a safe, secure and hassle-free conduct of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

During his visit to the Nunwan Base Camp, the DGP carried out a comprehensive inspection of facilities and arrangements made for the pilgrims. He reviewed the security grid, access control measures, deployment of police personnel, traffic management, emergency response preparedness and other logistical arrangements aimed at ensuring the safety, security and convenience of the yatris.

The DGP also interacted with police personnel deployed at the base camp and commended them for their dedication and professionalism. He asked them to maintain the highest standards of vigilance while adopting a pilgrim-friendly approach in the discharge of their duties.

Later, Prabhat chaired a high-level security review meeting attended by senior police officers to assess the prevailing security scenario and operational preparedness for the pilgrimage. The meeting reviewed deployment strategy, area domination, intelligence coordination, contingency planning and measures to further strengthen the security grid along the Yatra route.

He directed officers to ensure effective supervision at all levels, maintain close coordination among field formations and remain prepared for a prompt response to any contingency, stressing that every possible measure should be taken to provide pilgrims with a safe and seamless pilgrimage experience.

The DGP also visited the Nunwan frisking point, where he inspected security arrangements, access control mechanisms and facilitation measures for pilgrims. He reviewed the deployment of personnel and assessed arrangements made to ensure smooth movement and safety of yatris.

Interacting with officers and personnel at the frisking point, Prabhat emphasized the need for thorough yet pilgrim-friendly security checks and instructed them to balance stringent security with efficient public service. He also stressed close coordination among all security agencies and the civil administration to ensure a peaceful and incident-free pilgrimage.

Appreciating the commitment of police personnel and other security forces deployed on Yatra duty, the DGP urged them to remain alert, responsive and compassionate so that every pilgrim feels safe and well-assisted throughout the pilgrimage.
