CRPF activates special rescue units

Baltal, July 01: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has deployed specialized Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs), women-led “May I Help” units, and emergency response personnel along the Baltal axis to strengthen safety and assistance for pilgrims undertaking the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

As part of the multi-layered arrangements, the CRPF said the specialized teams will work in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other stakeholder agencies to provide round-the-clock administrative support, medical assistance, and emergency rescue services throughout the pilgrimage.

The force has established women-operated “May I Help” desks at key locations along the route to guide pilgrims, provide real-time information, assist with logistical issues and respond to grievances requiring immediate attention.

Considering the difficult terrain and unpredictable weather conditions on the high-altitude Baltal track, the CRPF has also positioned trained Mountain Rescue Teams equipped with specialized rescue equipment and medical gear at vulnerable stretches to respond swiftly to accidents, medical emergencies and other contingencies.

DIG, CRPF Srinagar Sector, Mr Sudhir Kumar said the objective is not only to secure the pilgrimage route but also to ensure that pilgrims receive timely assistance, guidance and medical care whenever required.

Kumar appealed to pilgrims to cooperate with security personnel, use the designated assistance centres and approach the “May I Help” units or Mountain Rescue Teams whenever they require support during the pilgrimage. [KNT]
