Committed to foster employment: DC Kupwara

KUPWARA, JUNE 30: The district administration Kupwara Tuesday organised a One-Day Job Fair at the District Employment & Counselling Centre (DE&CC) to enhance employment opportunities for the youth in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, inaugurated the Job Fair and interacted with the youth. He appreciated the initiative of the DE&CC, which provides a single platform for aspiring youth as well as employers. He emphasized the importance of skill development, adaptability, and entrepreneurship in today’s competitive job market while reiterating the district administration’s commitment to fostering employment and sustainable livelihoods.

Following preliminary screening and interviews conducted by the participating employers, 212 candidates were shortlisted for the next stage of the recruitment process.

A dedicated Mission YUVA Facilitation Centre provided on-the-spot counselling and registration support, with 32 aspiring entrepreneurs receiving guidance and two candidates registering under the Nano Enterprise Scheme.

Several reputed private-sector employers and line departments participated in the event, reaffirming the District Administration’s commitment to promoting employment generation and entrepreneurship among the youth of Kupwara.

Various speakers, including Employment Officer Kupwara, Ishfaq Wani; Assistant Faculty, JKEDI, Faheem Ahmad Mir; and Development Officer, LIC, Ishfaq Sharief, also interacted with the participants. They spoke about various self-employment initiatives, particularly Mission YUVA, government schemes promoting entrepreneurship, and career prospects in the insurance sector.
