WAR ON DRUGS: Peddler nabbed with ganja

Srinagar, June 29: Continuing its efforts to combat the menace of drug abuse and trafficking, Police in Handwara arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

Handwara Police achieved another significant success by apprehending a drug peddler during a high-alert naka operation at Shogpora Magam area falling within the jurisdiction of Police Station Handwara. Acting vigilantly during routine checking, a police team from Police Post Magam intercepted and apprehended a suspicious person. During his personal search, officers recovered Ganja like substance from his possession, exposing his involvement in illegal narcotics trafficking. The accused has been identified as Firdous Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Gani Bhat resident of Magam .

In this regard, FIR No. 178/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act (8/20) has been registered at Police Station Handwara, and investigation has been set into motion to unearth further links in the narcotics network.

Police remains firmly committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and continues to intensify sustained operations across the district to dismantle the drug ecosystem.
