Srinagar, June 20: Continuing its sustained efforts to eradicate the drug menace under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, J&K Police in Shopian conducted a special anti-narcotics drive in the Wachi and Hermain areas of the district to identify and destroy wild cannabis growth.
During the drive, police teams surveyed various locations in Darbagh Wachi & Hermain villages as well as their adjoining areas, where wild cannabis plants were found growing naturally along roadsides, pathways, agricultural land boundaries and other unattended patches of land. The identified plants were uprooted and destroyed on the spot to prevent their possible misuse for narcotic purposes. The initiative forms part of the sustained efforts of Police to combat the drug menace by eliminating potential sources of narcotic substances and raising awareness among local communities. Such drives are being conducted regularly across the district to ensure a drug-free and healthy environment.
Police urges the general public to remain vigilant and cooperate by reporting any instances of illegal cultivation, drug trafficking or substance abuse to the nearest police establishment. J&K police reiterates its firm commitment towards realizing the vision of a Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir through continued preventive and enforcement measures.
