Make all arrangements for smooth IYD event: DC Pulwama

PULWAMA, JUNE 17: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom Wednesday chaired a meeting at the Administrative Complex Pulwama to review and finalize arrangements for the observance of the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 across the district.

During the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama gave a detailed presentation outlining the proposed programme and arrangements for the district-level event as well as activities planned at the sub-divisional and institutional levels.

The meeting was informed that the main district-level Yoga Day function will be held at the Hockey Turf near Boys Higher Secondary School, Pulwama, where a mass yoga session will be mphasize. Similar events will also be conducted at sub-divisional levels including at Awanti Swami Temple, Awantipora and Government Degree College Bajwani, Tral, besides educational institutions, AYUSH centres, Amrit Sarovar sites and other designated locations across the district.

Reviewing the preparations, the DC called for the involvement of elected representatives, political workers, general public, members of various associations, civil society organisations, youth groups, students, government officials, ex-PRI members, ex-DDC members and former ULB representatives in the celebrations.

The DC also reviewed the arrangements related to sanitation, drinking water, power supply, medical assistance, traffic regulation, security, seating arrangements, public address systems, live streaming facilities and other logistical requirements at the venue.

He directed the concerned officers to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well in advance for the smooth conduct of the event.

The DC also sought details from the Additional Deputy Commissioners of Tral and Awantipora regarding the arrangements and participation plans for the Yoga Day events scheduled in their respective sub-divisions. He emphasized coordinated efforts among all departments to ensure successful observance of the International Day of Yoga throughout the district.

Among others, ADC Pulwama, ADC Tral, ADC Awantipora, and officers from various departments of civil administration and police attended the meeting.
