Wild cannabis destroyed

Srinagar, June 13: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, police in Baramulla intensified its drive against the cultivation and growth of wild cannabis (bhang) plants in various parts of the district.

During the drive, wild cannabis plants spread over approximately one kanal of land were destroyed along the roadside stretch from Twins Bridge, Uroosa to Lower Uroosa. Simultaneously, a destruction drive was also conducted in the vicinity of Government Higher Secondary School Goshbugh in coordination with local residents.

Besides the destruction of wild cannabis plants, awareness was created among the local population regarding the harmful effects of narcotic substances and the importance of community participation in combating the drug menace.

These drives were carried out successfully and concluded peacefully with active cooperation from local residents.

Police remains committed to the eradication of narcotic substances and appeals to the public to support ongoing efforts aimed at building a drug-free society.
