Ladakh revamps Police Recruitment Board

Srinagar, May 18: In a major step aimed at strengthening transparency and efficiency in police recruitment, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Monday approved the reconstitution of the Ladakh Police Subordinate Service Recruitment Board.

The move, officials said, is intended to ensure a smooth, fair and technology-driven recruitment process for various posts in the Ladakh Police, while creating greater employment opportunities for local youth.

Emphasising the administration’s commitment towards merit-based recruitment, Saxena said every young aspirant in Ladakh must receive equal and transparent opportunities in public service.

“The administration is committed to ensuring fair, transparent and merit-oriented recruitment opportunities for the youth of Ladakh,” the Lieutenant Governor said while highlighting the importance of the decision.

According to officials, the board was reconstituted following a proposal from the Ladakh Police Headquarters after certain administrative changes and the non-availability of some earlier members affected the functioning of the panel.

The revamped recruitment board will conduct examinations for all notified Group ‘B’ non-gazetted posts, including Sub-Inspector posts, as well as Group ‘C’ posts such as Constables and Follower cadre positions in the Ladakh Police.

Officials said the new recruitment mechanism would rely heavily on technology to maintain transparency and credibility in the selection process. The system will include biometric verification, CCTV monitoring, digital attendance, online application procedures and other safeguards under the Transparent Recruitment Process framework.

The administration believes that a professionally managed and credible recruitment system will further boost the confidence of aspiring candidates and ensure integrity in police appointments across the Union Territory.

The reconstituted board will be headed by DIG Leh-Kargil Range Koshal Kumar Sharma as Chairman, while SSP Traffic Ladakh Vikas Kumar has been appointed Member Secretary. Other members include SP Security Fulzele Piyush Nirakar, SP Leh Raam R, SP Kargil Nitin Yadav, DySP DAR Leh Padma Dorjey and DySP Headquarters Kargil Anayatullah. (KINS)
