Srinagar, May 15: A 12-day Special National Integration Camp (SNIC) organised by NCC Group Srinagar under the aegis of the Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Directorate commenced in Srinagar with participation of 342 cadets and Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) representing every State and Union Territory of the country.
According to a statement, the contingent arrived in Srinagar on May 14 to take part in the camp aimed at promoting national unity, cultural harmony and leadership among youth.
The camp began with the lighting of lamps and a multi-faith prayer ceremony at the Sarv Dharm Sthal, symbolising unity in diversity and communal harmony.
Cadets dressed in traditional attire from their respective regions participated in cultural activities showcasing the diversity of India’s heritage. The statement said the event reflected “youthful energy and a shared sense of patriotism”.
Brigadier Gurbir Singh, VSM, Group Commander NCC Srinagar, in his welcome address highlighted the importance of such initiatives in nurturing unity, leadership, cultural pride and patriotism among youth. He reiterated NCC’s commitment to grooming responsible citizens and future leaders of the nation.
The Badami Bagh Cantonment also hosted a quiz competition on the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the NCC, in which four teams participated.
The day’s events included military training sessions, cultural exchanges and recreational activities aimed at fostering camaraderie and friendship among cadets from diverse backgrounds.
The statement said the camp embodies the NCC motto of “Unity and Discipline” and promotes “Aman and Shanti” through interaction among youth from across the country.
