The Pulwama District admin is implementing to facilitate orderly, sustainable and future-oriented development in urban environments in Southern Kashmir.
It was at the Circuit House last week that senior government officials met to begin developing a Master Plan for the two towns of Awantipora and Pulwama. This meeting was intended to represent far more than a bureaucratic exercise; it lays the groundwork for creating an economically and socially prosperous future for both areas.
Through the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) software, the Pulwama District Government will work to create master plans that address the issues associated with rapid urbanization and maintain orderly development of urban areas to prevent unplanned, disorganized growth.
The creation of master plans will assist the Pulwama District Government in addressing many challenges associated with unplanned urban development by using land resources in a coordinated and effective manner, and by providing the infrastructure (i.e., water supply, sewer, roads, etc.) that is necessary to meet the needs of the citizens of the city.
The commitment of the Pulwama District Government to ensure that the Master Plan reflects local considerations, physical features of the land and characteristics of the cultural heritage, is commendable.
This demonstrates a commitment on the part of the Pulwama District Government to achieve a balance between the development of technology and environmental sustainability.
The completion of this initiative is critical to enhancing both the economy and the social structure of the region.
A well-developed and prepared Pulwama and Awantippore have the potential to function as an economic engine providing ‘a thriving and equitable environment in which to live, work and thrive.’
The local community will see improvements in their transportation systems, sanitary services, and public space which are the building blocks for a better quality of life.
District Administration has set an example for new levels of development in Jammu and Kashmir. The administration is setting out to create sustainable and all-inclusive growth that will benefit future generations and have a long-term impact; essentially for the next 20 years of growth.
