Srinagar, May 12: Continuing its sustained crackdown against habitual drug offenders under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, J&K Police in Sopore have booked one more repeat drug offender under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
The detained offender has been identified as Mohammad Iqbal Dar, S/O Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, R/O Drussu Khalisa Rafiabad, presently lodged in District Jail Udhampur. The said individual is a habitual offender involved in multiple NDPS cases and had continued his involvement in narcotics trafficking despite repeated legal and preventive action, thereby posing a serious threat to public health and safety.
The crackdown against repeat offenders and drug peddlers is being intensified across Police District Sopore and many more such habitual offenders have been identified for similar preventive action under the PIT NDPS Act in the coming days. Police reiterated that strict and sustained action against narcotics networks will continue with zero tolerance and all necessary measures will be taken to dismantle the drug ecosystem and safeguard society from the menace of drugs.
