The Prime Minister’s Electric-driven Bus Initiative also known as the E-Drive Project is introducing 200 electric buses to revolutionize public transportation in Jammu & Kashmir by promoting environmentally friendly public transportation options, improving access to public transportation and enhancing the image of Jammu & Kashmir as a tourist destination.
The E-Drive Project is intended to eliminate traditional methods of transportation that create a great amount of pollution and replace them with cleaner, greener alternatives; it will create new, modern infrastructure for Jammu & Kashmir and promote/enhance the tourism and pilgrimage industries so future generations can enjoy the region’s incredible natural beauty and ecological resources.
The E-Drive Project receives strong support from the J&K Government, which is in line with the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir’s existing goal to develop a system that provides eco-friendly public transit options.
The 200 new electric buses that have been introduced as part of the E-Drive Project will mainly be used to meet the increase in the number of visitors coming to enjoy the area’s natural beauty and visit tourist attractions, as well as to ensure the beautiful natural landscape that exists today will be preserved for many years into the future.
Additionally, the E-Drive Project will help make the J&K Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) and the region closer to achieving their goal of having zero carbon emissions.
The introduction of the E-Drive Project will promote economic development through expansion and modernization of the fleet, specifically in major urban areas, and through more reliable and accessible public transit options for the many people who frequently utilize public transit.
The E-Drive Project will allow for further development of JKRTC infrastructure and will provide additional mobility to the residents of the region through improved access to essential services such as education, healthcare, and commerce.
Ultimately, the E-Drive Project will support the long-term sustainability of both the electric vehicle charging infrastructure and the electric vehicle charging facility.
