Srinagar, May 06: Continuing its sustained drive against the menace of narcotics, J&K police achieved a significant success by destroying illicit poppy cultivation in the jurisdiction of Police Station Devsar.
Acting on reliable information, Police Station Devsar received inputs regarding illegal poppy cultivation by one Farooq Ahmad Teeli son of Abdul Salam Teeli resident of Qasba Devsar. Swiftly acting upon the information, a police team, in coordination with officials from revenue department, reached the spot. During the operation, the illicit poppy crop was destroyed on the spot and samples were seized as per legal procedure in the presence of a Magistrate. In this connection, FIR No. 29/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Devsar, and further investigation has been taken up.
Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug-related offences and urges the general public to come forward with any information related to drug cultivation or trafficking to help eradicate this menace from society.
