Srinagar, May 04: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday presented a charge-sheet against 11 accused persons, including four officials of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and seven private beneficiaries, in connection with a building permission violation case.
The charge-sheet as per ACB statement was filed in FIR No. 24/2020 for offences under Section 5(1)(d) read with 5(2) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006, and Section 120-B RPC at Police Station ACB Srinagar before the Court of the Additional Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Srinagar for judicial determination.
According to the ACB, the case pertains to the illegal construction of six structures at Jawahar Nagar, Goni Khan, Hari Singh High Street and Wazir Bagh in Srinagar without obtaining valid building permission from the competent authority, allegedly in connivance with officials of the SMC.
The investigation conducted by Police Station ACB Srinagar, based on oral and documentary evidence, substantiated the allegations against the accused officials and private beneficiaries. The probe revealed a criminal conspiracy between the government functionaries and the beneficiaries in facilitating the illegal constructions.
After obtaining the required sanction from the government for prosecution of the public servants, the ACB presented the charge-sheet before the court against the four public servants and seven private beneficiaries.
The next date of hearing has been fixed for June 16, 2026.
