Jammu, Apr 28: Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Tuesday approved the appointment of Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) for five newly created districts in Ladakh, a day after their formal notification, officials said.
The appointments for Changthang, Nubra, Zanskar, Sham, and Drass have been made to ensure immediate administrative functioning and the rollout of governance structures in these regions. The move is aimed at strengthening law and order while bringing governance closer to people, especially in remote and far-flung areas.
The Lieutenant Governor directed the officers to assume charge without delay and work with commitment towards inclusive development and meeting public aspirations. He also instructed that subordinate staff be appointed on priority and logistical support be arranged to ensure smooth functioning of the new districts.
As per the order, Nitish Rajoria has been appointed DC Changthang, with S.Z. Abbas Jaffari as SP. Mukul Beniwal and Stanzin Losal have been posted as DC and SP of Nubra, respectively.
For Zanskar, Omkar Rajendra Gundage has been named DC and Rigzen Sandup as SP. Kunzes Angmo and Aijaz Malik will serve as DC and SP of Sham, respectively.
In Drass, Imteeaz Kacho has been appointed DC, while Ishtyaq Ahmad will serve as SP.
Officials added that the existing administrations of Leh and Kargil will continue to function with their current set-up while coordinating with the newly carved districts during the transition phase. (KINS)
