Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s recent announcement represents a significant change in development trajectory for Jammu & Kashmir, as the Union Territory prepares for rural transformation of an exceptional scale.
This investment represents a financial commitment to guarantee that no village in India will be excluded from its journey toward developmental progress.
The announcement of a historic Rs 4,568 crore package for Jammu & Kashmir made by the Union Government marks a turning point on the journey toward development in this region.
With a focus on funding for a rural livelihood, constructing 330 new roads under PMGSY-IV, and enhancing assistance for housing, this initiative hopes to offer an enhanced and better connected future for residents of Jammu & Kashmir.
The launch of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-IV Batch-II represents a gigantic advancement to the established network of nearly 1,600 kilometers/330 roads at a cost of Rs 3,550 crores and would directly enhance access to 363 habitations by connecting previously isolated areas.
The combined effect of these initiatives is not simply to provide infrastructure, but also to connect villages to mainstream opportunities.
In addition to a focus on infrastructure, there is a significant emphasis on empowerment. The package further strengthens the existing network of women led self-help groups, village organizations, cluster-level federations.
Through its investment into rural entrepreneurial development, self-sufficiency and income creation are being supported by government investment into rural areas of Jammu & Kashmir and through the creation of opportunities that will allow families in rural areas of the state to benefit from an increase in household incomes.
This innovative financing of entrepreneurial development and housing assistance programs demonstrates government’s commitment to providing high quality of life for all citizens of J & K through a holistic, positive approach to building a stronger, sustainable, interconnected J & K.
Clearly, this represents a time to celebrate a new beginning of economic growth and development for J&K.
