Recognizing PET role

Jammu and Kashmir’s announcement of allocating 994 positions in the PET category for the regularization of ReK professionals is an important event that supports job security for the employees by supporting them as part of the employee base by formally recognizing and awarding them for their long-term dedication to employment with the School district.

The recognition given through this program demonstrates that the ReK professionals have played a major role in developing, creating and maintaining sports, games and physical fitness through their work with school-affiliated activities, thus allowing for the recognition of these individuals.

This is also in accordance with other previous policies that provide a pathway for regularization for applicants. These policies create security and support for the families of these people since thousands of homes rely on the schools and because there are almost three thousand ReK educators who require regularization, of which 994 will receive a position.

By Regularizing the PT Workers, the Youth Services and Sports Department is continuing to help ensure that the development of future athletic youth is achieved and supporting the development of a strong infrastructure for sports.

For those ReK educators who have worked tirelessly to develop future athletes and create the foundation for a strong culture of sports in Jammu & Kashmir, this is a positive development.

Schools will keep the experienced ReK teachers on staff as permanent PET roles, which retains some of that mentorship and experience built through the past couple of years, and is already starting to show some benefit in both local and national sport.

Regularising the DYS through a phased approach will provide a manageable transition for DYS and Sports and it provides some long awaited hope to families in the first wave of regularising.

The government is continuing to work through the final modalities of implementation; this announcement has been a source of relief for many thousands of families.

The announcement reflects a broader vision for the sports sector where there is a clear link between vocational commitment to the athlete and professional security.

The Administration’s commitment to keeping the vacancies protected from redistribution through other agencies demonstrates the integrity of the policy.

It is critical that all remaining procedural matters are handled without delay so that our ReK teachers can continue providing essential services with the dignity and stability they so rightly deserve.
