Srinagar, Apr 15: In twin actions against narcotics networks and illegal medical practices, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Anantnag today froze four residential properties worth about Rs 2.25 crore and sealed a medical shop for violating drug sale norms.
In a major crackdown under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, police froze four properties linked to alleged narcotics trade in the district. The assets belong to Rayees Ahmed Dar, Sabzar Ahmad Dar, Mudasir Ahmed Dar and Zahid Ahmad Dar, all residents of Tulkhan, Bijbehara.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the properties were acquired through proceeds of illegal drug trafficking. Acting on this, the competent authority ordered their attachment, with the cumulative market value estimated at around Rs 2.25 crore. Police said the move is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the financial backbone of drug networks, adding that further investigation is underway.
In a separate action, police, in coordination with the Drug Department, sealed a medical shop at Paibugh Mattan following inputs about illegal sale of medicines. During inspection, the shop owner was found dispensing drugs without valid prescriptions from a registered medical practitioner.
Authorities immediately sealed the establishment and initiated legal proceedings against the owner under relevant laws, citing risks to public health and safety.
Police reiterated their commitment to curbing narcotics and ensuring compliance with drug regulations, urging the public to report violations to the nearest police station.
