Srinagar, Apr 08: In a vibrant celebration of student creativity, innovation, and environmental awareness, the Class 4 students of The Legends School of Education, Sadrebal, Srinagar, took center stage during the “Best Out of Waste” activity.
The initiative highlighted the power of experiential learning by placing students at the heart of the process, enabling them to showcase their imagination, confidence, and sense of responsibility in an engaging and meaningful way.
The school campus transformed into a dynamic hub of ideas and innovation as students presented their handmade creations crafted entirely from discarded materials. Plastic bottles, old newspapers, cardboard boxes, and worn-out fabrics were creatively reimagined into decorative items, functional objects, and artistic models. Beyond the visual appeal, each creation reflected originality, thoughtful effort, and the ability of students to see value where others see waste.
“In today’s digital age, where children often spend significant time on screens, the ‘Best Out of Waste’ activity provided a refreshing alternative. Students engaged in hands-on work that required focus, patience, and creativity,” said Imran Shah, Chairman of the school.
A defining feature of the exhibition was the confidence demonstrated by the students while presenting their work. They clearly articulated their ideas, explained their creative processes, and shared the purpose behind their projects with enthusiasm and clarity. This not only enhanced their communication skills but also strengthened their self-belief, turning the event into a powerful platform for self-expression and personal growth.
The activity also underscored the inclusive ethos of the school, where every student was encouraged to participate and excel. A particularly inspiring moment came from Mohammad Numaan, a student with hearing impairment, who actively engaged in the event with determination and enthusiasm.
His participation highlighted the importance of inclusivity and demonstrated how a supportive environment empowers students to overcome challenges. His confidence and dedication inspired his peers and reinforced the belief that every child has unique potential.
Beyond creativity, the event delivered a strong message on environmental responsibility. By working with waste materials, students developed a practical understanding of recycling, reusing, and reducing waste. Rather than learning these concepts solely through textbooks, they experienced them firsthand, making the lessons more meaningful and lasting. This hands-on approach encouraged students to adopt sustainable habits and become more conscious of their role in protecting the environment.
Teachers played a crucial role as facilitators, guiding students while giving them the freedom to explore their creativity. Their encouragement fostered a supportive environment where students felt confident to experiment, innovate, and express themselves freely. The active involvement of school leadership further motivated students, as their efforts were acknowledged and appreciated, adding to their sense of accomplishment.
The Legends School of Education continues to set a benchmark in fostering a learning environment that prioritizes creativity, inclusivity, and holistic development. Through initiatives like this, the school ensures that students are not only academically prepared but also equipped with essential life skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and environmental awareness.
