The latest reports from the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly demonstrate that the economic growth of Jammu & Kashmir as a Union Territory has reached the tipping point due to rapid growth of industry over the last 2 years. Jammu and Kashmir now has a total of new 639 industrial units, which represent an industrial boom and will significantly change the economic structure of the Union Territory.
This is not only the creation of data points in an annual report, but it is proof that Jammu and Kashmir’s Industrial Policy is successful and that the Government has acted proactively by creating a conducive and investor-friendly environment through reforms.
The new industrial units are proof of renewed confidence in the Jammu and Kashmir Region; they will also provide billions of rupees in investments and will create job opportunities for thousands of people.
For many years, industrial development and growth in Jammu and Kashmir were limited by poor infrastructure and bottlenecks in the economy. Today, the conversation has equally shifted to ease of doing business and has expanded into other industries besides just manufacturing.
The large-scale & widespread transfers of land between districts demonstrate the Government’s desire to bring development to every region of Jammu & Kashmir.
In addition, the data indicates a shift toward sustainable development in Jammu & Kashmir with the Government investing in manufacturing, Agro-Based Industries and Services.
The Government’s commitment towards the establishment of new Industrial Estates is helping to ensure that the Industrial Growth will be systematic, organized and sustained.
Not only does this increase in private sector investment generate jobs for young people, but it also reduces reliance on traditional industries and diversifies our economy. This will give the necessary impetus for Jammu & Kashmir to become self-sufficient.
Through the successful transition of these manufacturing facilities from design to operation will provide a robust support system for supplier businesses to grow, thereby stimulating the local economy and encouraging local artisans and entrepreneurs.
The J&K Government should be commended for establishing an environment that promotes Jammu & Kashmir as an investment destination, creating a basis for future success and industrial sustainability.
