KU defers exams
Srinagar, Mar 3: All schools and colleges across the Kashmir Division will remain closed till March 7, 2026, Education Minister Sakina Itoo announced on Tuesday.
The decision comes after a fresh review of the prevailing situation. Earlier, the government had decided to reopen educational institutions in eight districts of Kashmir, excluding Srinagar and Budgam. However, following reassessment, authorities resolved to defer reopening across the entire Division.
Officials said classes will now resume from March 9, subject to normal conditions.
The move has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff. Further updates, if any, will be communicated accordingly.
Meanwhile, the University of Kashmir has postponed all examinations scheduled for March 4, 2026, as per an official notification issued by the Office of the Controller of Examinations.
According to the notice, all university examinations slated for Wednesday stand deferred. Revised dates for the postponed papers will be announced separately.
The order, issued by the Assistant Controller of Examinations (Conduct), has been circulated to the concerned authorities for necessary action, including uploading the notification on the university’s official website and informing the media.
The University of Kashmir has also suspended all teaching and academic activities across its campuses till March 7.
An official notice issued by the Registrar said the decision will be applicable to all campuses of the varsity and will remain in effect up to and including March 7, 2026.
