Srinagar, Feb 22: A 45-year-old labourer died after suffering an electric shock while at work in the Ahmad Nagar Soura area of Srinagar district on Sunday.
Officials said that the deceased, identified as Mohammad Yousuf, a resident of DH Pora in Kulgam, sustained injuries after sustaining a severe electric shock.
The deceased was engaged in shuttering work at a residential house in Ahmad Nagar, Soura, when he reportedly came into contact with a live electric wire during the course of work, they said.
He was immediately shifted to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura for treatment, however, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead on arrival.
Police have initiated necessary medico-legal formalities and further proceedings are underway as per procedure. (KNC)
