JAMMU, FEBRUARY 21: At a ceremony held today in the Lok Bhavan, Shantmanu was sworn in as the State Election Commissioner for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. He made and subscribed to the oath of office before the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.
The oath-taking ceremony was held after the Jammu and Kashmir Government announced his appointment to the constitutional post. The ceremony was attended by the CM Omar Abdullah along with the council of ministers.
Earlier, the General Administration Department had issued an order appointing retired IAS officer Shantmanu as the State Election Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir. He has been appointed for a tenure of five years or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
