The decision by the Lieutenant Governor to reopen fourteen more tourist destinations in Jammu & Kashmir is more than a government initiative, it’s a testament to the peace, strength and optimism that exist in our region.
After reviewing the security of these popular tourist sites, the administration wisely decided to re-open some of the most stunning landscapes in the Valley, including the beautiful meadows of Yousmarg and Doodhpathri.
By adding more than thirty-six new tourist sites that will be reopened, it is clear to the international community that the Valley is fully prepared to welcome visitors with its well-known hospitality.
All the sites were closed back in May of 2015 for safety reasons following the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 28, 2015.
By directing the reopening of all sites throughout the Valley, after conducting a thorough evaluation of security, the LG has provided visitors and residents of the Valley the opportunity to experience the beauty of the Valley and to feel comfortable doing so.
For those interested, this news was received openly as a big sigh of relief. Several tour operators have welcomed the reopening of the tourist sites, as it will provide an uplifting message throughout the country and increase the number of tourists in the coming season.
The reopening of well-known attraction points such as Asia’s largest tulip garden coincides with this spring’s blooming period, which can provide local economies with a great opportunity while also providing visitors with an amazing visual experience.
Some high-altitude tourist attractions like Gurez and Bangus will remain closed until they are snow-free, however, their eventual opening as classified tourist attractions will allow benefits associated with tourism to reach areas that have never been benefited from tourism before.
The reopening of these 14 destination sites represents the triumph of life over death in totality; therefore, we extend an invitation to both domestic and international tourists to return to the heavenly haven called Jammu & Kashmir once again.
