The latest report from the government shows that Jammu & Kashmir is planning to increase its source of power by 47% based on its current installed capacity of 3,540.15 MWs in the coming fiscal.
This new source of energy will be critical for creating a sense of new development and achieving self-sustainability and sustainability in J&K.
The additional generation capacity of 1,696.5 MWs will support closing the current shortfall of power in the region, particularly during the winter months when demand is at its peak.
Therefore, expanding the generation of power is a strategic component of transforming and developing J&K from an economy based on its geographic location into economies based on industrial and commercial activity.
Increasing the electricity generation capacity provides every citizen in J&K with a direct investment in their dignity and quality of life.
Having access to the new electricity generation capacity will provide residents with warmer homes, lit up streets, educational opportunities for children, and the ability of hospitals to provide better quality care and support to patients.
In addition, providing the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir additional access to power will help create jobs in small businesses, and generate the energy needed to support industrial growth and provide the fuel for new enterprises to emerge.
The revitalization of the economy depends on energy production, providing jobs and the means for people to support their families on a long-term basis.
Another aspect of the roadmap to 2030-31 is a goal of generating amazing amounts of energy, 7314.85 megawatts (MWs) to be exact, which shows a long-term vision and gives us an outline of how we will achieve energy independence for our jurisdiction.
In achieving this goal, we will be able to transition from being an energy-deficient region to supplying the National Electricity Grid with power.
Jammu and Kashmir will experience the spirit of self-reliance through this experience which will create both confidence and ownership.
This development will largely be green, utilizing the natural hydropower of the state, while increasing the use of solar energy. Development will occur in harmony with J&K’s pristine environment, which is the true riches of the state.
It will also be aligned with the climate initiatives of the world and we will build our economies without putting at risk what has been created for us by nature.
