Steady power

In a time when price increases and the economy are challenging for many sections of the populace, the administration of Jammu and Kashmir have demonstrated their strong commitment toward providing consumer support and maintaining stability within the region.

This is evidenced by the fact that for nearly 3 years, electricity rates have remained stable or unchanged for most consumers in the region.

The public is sincerely grateful to the government for acknowledging the significance of stable electricity rates to everyone, including families, farmers, small businesses, and commercial enterprises that all need predictable costs associated with their electricity consumption.

Entrepreneurs will be able to more accurately inventor projects and plan for future business opportunities based on knowing the current and expected price of electricity.

The only exception to this policy is for Power Intensive Units (PIUs), which are large industrial users of electricity and therefore will continue to pay for the bulk of their electricity consumption at a different tariff than other types of users since they will be subject to separate tariffs, given their needs as a large user of electricity and as part of the overall equitable treatment of customers and to allow for more effective distribution of electricity.

The tariffs will also encourage industry investment in energy efficiency, thereby supporting the national goal of sustainable resource usage.

A utility cost that remains relatively stable allows households to budget accordingly creating stability, lowering anxiety and providing a sense of normalcy, which contributes to overall well-being.

Having a defined policy in place for an extended period creates trust in government by acknowledging the difficulties many individuals face on a daily basis, and enabling government entities to respond favourably to these issues.

Like electricity, there is a need for steady power and support for many other areas and the concerned authorities must focus on providing the sigh of relief to the people in every possible sector to maintain a better connection with the public.
