Anantnag, Feb 3: An elderly pedestrian lost his life in a road accident at Donipora Crossing in the Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday, after being struck by an unidentified vehicle.
Officials said the victim was hit while on foot, following which he sustained critical injuries. He was immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital Bijbehara, where doctors declared him dead shortly after arrival.
The deceased has been identified as Gull Mohammad Bhat, son of Mohammad Abdullah, a local inhabitant of Donipora Sangam, Bijbehara. He was around 60 years old.
After completion of preliminary medical procedures, the body was retained at SDH Bijbehara for medico-legal formalities. Officials said the exact circumstances leading to the accident were being examined.
Police have initiated an investigation to trace the vehicle involved in the incident and ascertain responsibility. (KNT)
