The Union Budget 2026-27 for Jammu & Kashmir includes a large amount of funding of Rs. 43,290.29 crore, which shows our country is committed to ensuring there is peace and prosperity as well as a faster pace of development in the Union Territory.
This significant amount of additional money nearly a Rs. 2000 crore increase from this year alone will serve as a long-term investment into the future of the Union Territory and its residents.
This increase in allocation is not simply as an addition to the already ongoing budgeted resources or as a result of regular budgeting; the new money is clearly intended to show that there is momentum for much more development than what we have already experienced over many years and will continue into the foreseeable future with a significant increase in momentum going forward.
The additional funds will serve as a major driving force within all critical sectors of the economy, such as infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, education and health care.
With the large investments made in the generation of new jobs through the funding for youth, increasing their connectivity with jobs, and building a solid foundation to developing their aspirations, this budget will create considerably more opportunities for youth in Jammu & Kashmir.
Building on the investment in infrastructure through transportation and energy, the state of Jammu & Kashmir will be much more connected to the national economy (trade and tourism) and provide access to more resources to be able to take advantage of available resources.
With the additional resources available for social welfare projects, every household will benefit from the growth opportunity created within the economy and therefore experience inclusive development.
The Jammu and Kashmir region has unique aspirations that their budget will address through a holistic plan of action to meet both the Jammu and Kashmir regional needs.
The consistent year-over-year increase in the budgetary allocation is evidence of a long-term plan to create a new legacy of stability and prosperity through decisive actions within the challenges of history.
The people of Jammu & Kashmir have demonstrated great strength and a unified will to improve together.
