Srinagar, Jan 28: Acting on specific and credible input, Police in Baramulla established a checkpoint at Ogmuna, Kunzer. During checking, four persons coming from Karhama towards Ogmuna were noticed approaching the checkpoint in a suspicious manner.
On noticing the police party, they attempted to flee from the spot; however, all of them were tactfully intercepted and apprehended by the police personnel on duty, a police spokesman said.
The apprehended persons have been identified as Mohd Amin Rather son of Abdul Khaliq Rather resident of Karhama, Furqan Ahmad Lone son of Manzoor Ahmad Lone resident of Mirchipora, Tangmarg, Mohd Saleem Lone son of Ghulam Nabi Lone resident of Mirchipora, Tangmarg and Maroof Ahmad Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat resident of Pandithpora Bala. During the search, a substantial quantity of contraband substance was recovered from their possession.
All four accused persons were arrested and accordingly a case under FIR number 08/2026 under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Kunzer and investigation is underway.
