Reviews status of telecom infra development
KUPWARA, JANUARY 22: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, on Thursday evening paid a visit to the Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) Workshop at Bumhama to review the department’s preparedness in view of the forecast of snowfall.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected snow clearance machinery, equipment and logistics arrangements put in place to ensure timely road clearance. He interacted with MED officials and staff, taking stock of the operational readiness of snow-cutters, loaders, and other essential machinery.
The DC emphasized the importance of maintaining all machinery in optimal working conditions and directed the concerned officers to ensure the availability of adequate manpower, fuel, and spare parts. He stressed the need for close coordination among line departments to respond promptly to any snowfall-related exigencies, particularly on vital road stretches.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara also chaired a meeting of the District Level Telecom Committee (DTC) at the Mini Meeting Hall, DC Office Complex, to review the status of telecom infrastructure development in the district, with special focus on 4G saturation and BharatNet implementation across all Panchayats.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on mobile tower saturation, augmentation of signals, pending land allocation for towers, Right of Way (RoW) issues, power connection status.
Emphasis was laid on expediting ongoing execution of works and ensuring smooth inter-departmental coordination.
Regarding Amended BharatNet Programme (ABP) progress report was shared by PIA/BSNL during the meeting. The DC stressed on hustle free RoW permissions, utilisation of existing infrastructure for BharatNet connectivity.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad , SE R&B, Executive Engineers of R&B/ PMGSY, OC-Beacon and other senior Officers of concerned departments as well as telecom representatives.
