The Cyber Investigation Center for Excellence (CICE) issued a significant report to persons in Jammu and Kashmir regarding cybercrimes at Rs 184.91 crore in 2025.
This number simply doesn’t express the vulnerability of an individual but is a measure of the developing understanding of and willingness of the vast majority of individuals.
Individuals and companies are publicly reporting fraud, as evidenced by this number, and thus, there is a view to looking at this figure in a new light, recognising the CICE as being a valuable institution and the community of people who are taking advantage of them for assistance.
The CICE’s statistics will not reinforce our fearfulness of the figure but provide a basis for continuing to be vigilant and working to turn ourselves from potential victims into active allies in defending ourselves.
The very first step in a war against a noted or unknown enemy is to as closely and accurately as possible look at the size and means of that enemy.
Criminals have been able to operate without consequence due to a combination of complexity and fear of filing a complaint to law enforcement.
Filing a report as soon as possible to the CICE is one of the main focuses of their mission to provide better policing of the cyber world.
Information can disappear almost instantly out of the Digital Realm. Reporting a crime to the CICE immediately provides a source of live intelligence support.
Once the crime has been reported, the police have the tools necessary to immediately take action by freezing bank transactions or blocking payment channels and sending in digital forensic experts to track down the criminals responsible.
A request to file a report to the CICE is an opportunity for law enforcement and members of the public to work together to strengthen our community.
Each timely report contributes to the development of a collective defence system. It provides the CICE with data to help them understand the cyber crime environment, develop timely public warnings, and stop those people who prey on innocent citizens.
