Srinagar, Jan 1: In a major action against cross-border terrorism and its support networks, Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached an immovable property belonging to a Pakistan-based terror handler and launch commander under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, signalling a firm resolve to dismantle the financial and logistical backbone of terror outfits operating in the Poonch-Rajouri belt.
The attachment has been carried out in connection with a case registered at Police Station Gursai in Poonch district. The property comprises agricultural land measuring four marlas and two sarsai, located at village Nar in the Nakka Majhari area of Mendhar tehsil.
Police said the attached property belongs to Rafiq Nai alias Sultan, son of Mohammad Afsar, a resident of the area who is presently operating from Pakistan as a terror handler and launch commander of the banned outfit Tahreek-ul-Mujahideen, also known as Jammu Kashmir Ghaznavi Force.
According to police, the accused has been actively involved in supervising narcotics and weapons smuggling, facilitating infiltration of trained terrorists and attempting to revive terrorist activities in the Poonch-Rajouri sector. He has been declared a designated individual terrorist and is wanted in multiple serious terror-related cases registered over the years.
The attachment was executed by a joint team of Police Station Mendhar and the Revenue Department after completing all legal formalities, including verification, documentation and approval from the competent authority. Officials said the market value of the attached property is estimated to be around Rs 10 lakh.
Police said the action forms part of a sustained strategy to dismantle the financial, logistical and support infrastructure of terrorist networks and to ensure that individuals involved in terror activities are deprived of resources that aid such operations.
District Police Poonch reiterated its commitment to act firmly and lawfully against all elements involved in terrorism and activities prejudicial to the security and sovereignty of the country, assuring that such measures will continue in the interest of peace, public safety and national security.
