Srinagar, Dec 30: The Economic Offences Wing Kashmir of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet in FIR No. 04/2022 under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code before the Hon’ble Court of Sub Judge, Sumbal, against Ranjeet Prasad, Director of True Dreams Project India Pvt Ltd.

According to the press release, the accused, a resident of Maksudpur under Police Station Unchkagaon, Sasmusa in Gopalganj district of Bihar, is accused of orchestrating a recruitment-related fraud in Kashmir under the banner of the company.

The case originated from a written complaint alleging that True Dreams Project India Pvt Ltd, through its director and company representatives, conducted a recruitment drive in Kashmir during which around 1,300 trainees were engaged. The complainant alleged that the trainees were promised monthly salaries ranging between Rs 5,000 and Rs 12,000. However, instead of receiving salaries, each trainee was allegedly asked to deposit Rs 2,400 as a registration fee.

Investigations revealed that despite collecting the registration amount from the trainees, no salary was paid to them. During the course of the probe, it was prima facie established that several innocent students were cheated and defrauded on the pretext of providing tuition and employment opportunities.

The Economic Offences Wing said that the acts and omissions of the accused disclose offences punishable under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC. The investigation, supported by oral as well as documentary evidence, has been concluded as proved against the accused Ranjeet Prasad in his capacity as Director of the company.

Officials said that the accused failed to cooperate with the investigating agency and could not be traced at the address provided. Consequently, the chargesheet has been submitted in absentia by initiating proceedings under Section 512 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Further legal proceedings in the case will now be taken up by the trial court.
