Govt forms panel to act on PM–Secretaries meet

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted a high-level committee to examine and finalise departmental inputs for submission to the Ministry of Home Affairs on actionable points emerging from the Prime Minister’s interaction with Secretaries to the Government of India held on October 6, 2025.

According to Government Order 1931-JK(GAD) of 2025 issued on Monday, the panel will be chaired by the Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) of the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department. The members include the Principal Secretary of the Home Department, Commissioner Secretary of the General Administration Department, Commissioner Secretary of the Forest, Ecology and Environment Department, Secretary of the Revenue Department and the Special Secretary of the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, who will function as the Member Secretary.

The committee has been tasked with reviewing and consolidating inputs from all departments on adopting a Whole of the Government approach for initiatives that involve multiple ministries and agencies. Officials said the exercise aims to strengthen coordination and improve the pace of implementation while keeping the national perspective in view.

As part of its mandate, the panel will also examine measures proposed for improving the ease of living for citizens, including steps related to decriminalisation of minor offences. It has additionally been asked to study gaps in the progress toward goals set for 2047 and prepare time-bound plans for achieving these targets.

The order states that the committee will finalise all departmental comments linked to actionable points from the Prime Minister’s meeting and forward the consolidated report to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Planning, Development and Monitoring Department has been assigned to provide secretarial support to the committee.
