Life is short, life is fun, and life wants no anxiety. Life wants distances filled with joy and blessings. The sports sector has great potential to generate employment. Sports can support your health-related issues and keep your fitness at its best. When we are not physically fit, we must be ready for several health problems such as stress, excessive belly fat, unnecessary cholesterol, the risk of heart diseases, weakness of body parts, fatigue, insomnia, and many other issues.
If you ask me, “What is exercise?” My answer is that every body movement is an exercise. So then, why do we need to engage in other physical activities? Because participating in different activities involves the whole body, which feels quite delightful and uplifting.
There are hundreds of sports activities being played around the world, and the same activities are popular in our country as well. In India, a few games are particularly popular among the people, and many enjoy taking part in them. Cricket is one of the most prominent sports in India. It is very pleasing that India has the richest cricket board in the world. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has a market capitalisation of around ₹18,000 crore. The BCCI organizes the IPL (Indian Premier League), in which top-class cricket players from around the world participate. Around ten teams compete in this mega league every year. I mentioned in an earlier article about the net worth of the BCCI that sports are now becoming a profession. You can get name recognition, fame, and all that you aspire to through sports.
India has achieved great records in various sports at the international level, and the country has produced several renowned sports personalities—such as Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, and others in cricket; Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi in tennis; Bhaichung Bhutia in football; and many more who have represented India internationally and won prestigious awards. Every country allocates a separate sports budget every fiscal year and promotes sports at the district, state, and national levels. Only the lucky and hardworking ones reach the international level.
Promoting sports sends a clear message to the people to participate, stay healthy, and remain cheerful regardless of circumstances. It is appreciable that the government administration is deeply interested in sports. Every year on August 29th, we celebrate National Sports Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. On this day, schools, colleges, and universities are filled with students and teachers who take part in various sports activities, spreading the message of the importance of sports across the country.
The government is highly focused on developing sports infrastructure and promoting it among the youth. Sports stadiums constructed at every panchayat level, equipped with proper facilities like ground levelling and fencing, are commendable steps toward strengthening the sports sector. Every year, a large number of athletes from various sports disciplines are selected at national and international levels. In Kashmir, several leagues are organized by sports departments and other agencies, helping produce talented sports personalities in J&K.
Benefits of Sports Activities
Sports activities are interesting, enjoyable, and encourage participation. They keep us healthy and happy, strengthen our body parts, and keep us stress-free. Sports are one of the best alternatives to prevent drug addiction among youth, as scientific studies show that engaging in sports reduces the desire for harmful substances.
Sports are a healthy package for your loved ones, helping children stay away from drug addiction and other harmful activities. Today, sports offer vast opportunities—many sportspersons earn their livelihood by coaching, opening gym centres, boxing academies, and many other avenues. One can also promote sports by organizing cricket, football, and volleyball tournaments in their areas after obtaining permission from the concerned authorities.
The sports sector has great potential to generate employment and plays a significant role in uplifting the country’s economy. Gulmarg is one of the renowned, luscious, mesmerizing, and winsome tourist destinations in the Kashmir Valley. It attracts tourists from across the world who come for skiing, adventure sports, mountaineering, and more. Recently, Khelo India one of the mega sports events concluded successfully, with players from across the country participating.
